The artwork first gets my attention, then I notice the headline within the e-signature, and once I think about what they're offering I may even click on the hotlink to their website and quickly check them out. The e-signatures with artwork and a good headline are very effective. Help me get my e-signature noticed! How can I get that cool text artwork for my e-signature? Sincerely, Plain Old Sig from Pittsburgh ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Dear Plain, In a moment I'm going to show you where to get some cool ascii art you can use in your own e-signature! "E-signature marketing" is important for virtually every web business. Your e-signature should appear at the bottom of every email message you send, and should include your contact info, URL hotlink, and a good headline which will entice people to click to your site. Your e-sig acts as a virtual billboard ad for your site. You should also use your e-sig in your newsgroup postings and message board postings. (always check posting guidelines first) These postings can be seen by a large number of people. You can setup most email software to automatically append your e-sig to each message you send. Yahoo mail, Hotmail and other free email services also have this feature. You can use ascii art as part of your e-sig for fun, to add a bit of flare, or to help get your e-sig noticed. When using ascii art as part of your e-sig, keep these points in mind: Your ascii art e-sig will appear properly to 99% of those who view it. For everyone else, who's email program is not set to use a fixed-width font such as Courier, your e-sig will look like a text mess. To see if your email program is set to use a fixed-width font, copy and paste the following two lines into an email message, then email to yourself. Now read the email, and if the lines display as the same length then you are viewing using a fixed-width font: IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW E-sigs that are more than 4 or 5 lines long are often annoying to people, especially extremely long e-sigs attached to very short email messages. E-sigs slightly longer than average are usually acceptable as long as the space is well used (additional company info, phone & fax numbers, etc) and/or the space is used tastefully.
